Research Safety Week

UNM is proud to host its first Research Safety Week, a three-day event dedicated to embedding safety into the heart of research and innovation across all disciplines. As New Mexico’s premier Research 1 (R1) institution, UNM is recognized among elite universities for maintaining a standard of very high research activity. Our commitment to safety is integral to sustaining this excellence.

Research Safety Week will feature an engaging schedule of keynote sessions, interactive workshops, and collaborative activities that showcase how safety drives innovation and research excellence. This initiative promotes resources and best practices that empower researchers to work responsibly, ethically, and sustainably, ensuring that our discoveries not only advance knowledge but also protect people and the environment.

Most importantly, these events highlight the unique contributions of our faculty, staff, and students to the intellectual capital of UNM and reinforce our collective ability to positively impact our communities, our state, our nation, and the world.

Why Attend?

  • Learn best practices for research safety risk management and compliance
  • Explore how safety drives innovation
  • Network with experts, vendors, and peers
  • Participate in interactive workshops, demos, and games
  • Contribute to building a safer, greener research environment
